October 2023 – EBSC received the 2023 Global Citizen Award from the East Bay Chapter of the United Nations Association. This award recognizes and represents our impact to raise hope and positive change in the area of human rights. 

August 2023 – The Radio B’alam – Voces Maya team received the 2023 Ethnic Media Award from the California Ethnic Media Services (one of the six winners, selected from 300 media outlet applicants). This award celebrates our team’s exemplary and inclusive social media coverage within the Mam community.

October 2017 – Sister Maureen was awarded a lifetime achievement award through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development for her work with refugees, asylum-seekers, and undocumented minor children.

2017 – EBSC one of three nonprofits to receive the Espíritu Award from the Isabel Allende Foundation for our work with immigrant women and girls. The Espíritu Award was established in 2001 and is proactively granted to celebrate, honor and support exemplary work in the Foundation’s areas of interest.

February 2014 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama honored Michael Smith as an “Unsung Hero of Compassion” for his work with EBSC. The award, presented to 50 individuals from around the world, recognizes outstanding leadership and commitment to compassionate work. EBSC congratulates Michael Smith on this notable achievement.
