Important Announcements from EBSC DACA Team
Please read the following carefully:
Updated July 25, 2024
- EBSC is moving! Our new address is 2614 Dwight Way, Berkeley, CA 94704. Our office will be closed to clients between July 26th and 31st. We reopen at the new location on August 1, 2024.
- The DACA team will be on vacation in September and October. There will be no phone appointments available between Sep 24th and Oct 11th, and no cases will be reviewed and sent to USCIS between September 15 and October 3. We STRONGLY encourage our clients to complete the renewal process by August 31, 2024 if your DACA expires before Jan 31, 2025. Keep in mind that we currently don’t have the funding to pay for your USCIS application fee ($605). Request a phone appointment here.
- On June 18, the Biden administration announced an executive order to allow certain undocumented immigrants, who are married to U.S. citizens, to apply for a temporary “parole-in-place” (PIP) status, which will provide a faster and safer pathway for residency. Undocumented immigrants with a B.A. degree whose employers are willing to sponsor for a work visa may also benefit from the executive order.
USCIS will begin accepting applications on Aug 19, 2024. EBSC plans to provide Zoom info sessions prior to the implementation of the program to explain what PIP is, who qualifies, and how to prepare to apply for it. If you are interested in applying for PIP, please participate in this survey so we can invite you to one of the Zoom sessions, gauge how many EBSC clients would be seeking assistance, and prepare ourselves accordingly. At this point, we cannot guarantee we will be able to provide PIP application assistance. There is no cost to attend a Zoom info session. Please note that the info sessions will not cover the application process for employment-based visas. If you have questions regarding PIP, please email daca@eastbaysanctuary.org.
