Sister Maureen’s despedida party
On February 1, we were joined by over 200 people to celebrate the impact of Sister Maureen’s work in the Bay Area and bless her on her new journey to Pennsylvania. Sister’s impact on the lives of thousands of immigrants and asylum-seekers will forever be in the hearts of those whom she has served.
In honor of Sister’s legacy of personally supporting tens of thousands of immigrants and asylum seekers over the past forty years, EBSC is creating a new fund to provide direct cash support to undocumented immigrants in need and other special projects that reflect Sister’s essence of service. All funds will go directly to continue Sister’s vision of direct support to low-income immigrants and asylum seekers and are fully tax deductible.
2024 Annual Dinner
We were honored to grant the very first Santuario Lifetime Achievement Award to our very own Michael Smith at this year’s Annual Dinner.
Mike joined EBSC in 1985 and has spent his life supporting undocumented immigrants. Mike co-founded EBSC’s affirmative asylum program in 1994 and it is now one of the largest affirmative asylum programs in the U.S. Mike has mentored thousands of law students and pro bono attorneys and has been at the forefront of creating and defending asylum law for nearly four decades.
